I have developed a language-based approach to learning how to play guitar (or any other instrument from a theory-based approach) and understand any and all styles of music.
My ultimate goal is to make myself unnecessary. What does this mean?
If you understand how music is constructed and organized and you can really 'hear' as well as recognize the written symbols - then you are truly a 'musician'; you 'speak' the language. You don't need an interpreter.
Let me give you an example:
If I gave you the Russian alphabet and told you to come back in a week with words constructed from that alphabet....this would be a fools errand. It would be totally unreasonable. It is similar to learning random scales and subsequent chords believing that you have an understanding of syntax, function and connection. It's not going to happen all by itself!
I teach you how chords and phrases are constructed from basic scales. I show you how to 'connect-the-dots' in a way that makes it possible for you to 'think' like a musician...how to express your SELF as a musician. How to read and/or hear and interpret as a Musician!
